Acting in Physical Theatre

The international workshop, based on the Ostrenko Brothers' method, is designed for professionals and pre-professionals—dancers, choreographers, actors, directors, circus artists, and other performers. The curriculum includes exercises on improvisation, space exploration, and partner interaction, methods for ensemble building and enhancing physicality, approaches for analyzing plays and integrating movement with text, and exposure to Meyerhold's "Biomechanics," M. Chekhov's "Psychological Gesture," and Stanislavsky's "Physical Action."
What is the curriculum?
The curriculum includes:

Various exercises focusing on improvisation, space exploration, and partner interaction, progressing from simple to complex.

Methods for building ensembles and enhancing performers' physicality and creativity.

Approaches for analyzing plays, working on text with dancers and actors, and integrating movement and text to make performances more dynamic.

Exposure to Meyerhold's "Biomechanics," M. Chekhov's "Psychological Gesture," and Stanislavsky's "Physical Action."
This workshop is ideal for professional artists seeking to improve physicality in acting, ensemble building, rehearsal structuring, and networking with practitioners from different countries. Participants will gain exposure to new techniques and methodologies under the guidance of the experienced Ostrenko Brothers.

Certificate:
Students can receive the Certificate of Participation in this intensive program.
Evidence that you are serious about your education and professional development.
The certificate is provided after student's participation in the training and submitting the report/essay of their experience at the program (1500 words).
Registration Details:
Early Bird Fee is 399 EUR (valid until October 11, 2024). After this date, the fee increases to 499 EUR. This cost includes full participation in the international workshop during 5 days.

Professional Background: Participants should have some experience in the performing arts.

Sergei Ostrenko has over 30 years of professional experience as a Director, Choreographer and Performance Teacher.
Sergei has directed over 40 theatre productions, producing international projects for both the professional stage and for education in numerous countries, including Austria, Belarus, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

Gennadiy Ostrenko is a professional expert in theatre biomechanics technique, movement directing, and stage combat.
Despite having a Fine Arts Academy education, he is professionally involved in theatre work for the most part of life. His stagecraft skills have enabled Gennadiy to diversify his artistic activities and he now devotes himself a lot to physical theatre and movement expressiveness. and frequently collaborates with his brother, Sergei, as a Movement Director in performance productions.
