PHYSICALITY IN ACTING

8 - 12 January 2024

EDEN***** Studios Berlin - Germany

The program focuses on enriching dance performances by incorporating psychological tension and exploring how physicality in acting can enhance the overall performance. These two questions are among the most challenging and intriguing ones that contemporary directors and choreographers face. This full-day workshop lab provides students with an opportunity to practically and physically explore various techniques and discover answers to these questions.

The course is designed for practitioners interested in creating contemporary dance, movement, or physical theatre performances. It will be particularly useful for artists who want to understand the significance of bringing action into performances, working with text, images, and other practical tools for creating professional performances, regardless of budget.

In addition, students will learn various techniques, including "Theatre Biomechanics" by V. Meyerhold, "Psychological Gesture" by M. Chekhov, and "Physical Action" by K. Stanislavski. The program will be conducted in English.

This multidisciplinary intensive lab will provide opportunities for participants to work with performers from different techniques and countries, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinarity and multiculturalism in the program.
